Autumnal Offering

Every autumn when the trees drop their leaves, we marvel at this transformation. Trees know exactly when to let go of what’s no longer life-giving. One day, what once held fast has loosened its grip and is given to the ground beneath.

We don’t doubt the wisdom of that tree. We don’t judge it because it’s choosing to let go. We don’t think it’s weak or falling apart.

But we often feel that way about ourselves, despite having the same wisdom inside of us.

Let’s be honest. We know when something is no longer working. When it has stopped serving us (or others). When it isn’t part of our highest dreaming. We know when what we can’t let go is keeping us from growing.

If trees don’t drop their leaves in the fall, they can’t be offered a new bloom come spring.

Our bodies are aligned with the themes of the seasons. If the idea of dropping something is flirting with you, that’s exactly the right place to be. Don’t judge yourself for wanting to take something off your plate. It doesn’t mean you’re weak. Choosing to set something down is a sign of strength.

And it’s preparing the ground for your next bloom.

P.S. I didn’t realize at first that there was a ring hanging off that branch. If that’s pertinent to your journey and what you might be letting go of, then let it resonate. If not, just leave that part behind and follow the feeling you get from the leaves.

Enjoy,
